Life Groups

What is a Life Group?

We started home groups (Life Groups) a few years ago as we noticed the need of more intimate fellowship and a way of reaching out to neighbors, friends, or people who might not feel comfortable right away in a church setting. There is the host home, and the leader. Each of our life groups have their distinct personality and flavor with the same goal in mind; outreach and a bit more intimate fellowship than you my receive at a Sunday morning service.

Why Would I Become Part?

...to be connected in a more relaxed setting, besides the fact there may come a time in the near future when coming to church could become difficult due to the economy and so on. I would urge everyone to become part of a group because people need people, people need fellowship, and people need God.

With Him Youth – Teen Youth Group (W.H.Y.)

Pastor Nancie Orticelli is our Youth Pastor. Nancie graduated from The Willie George School of Ministry in Oklahoma. She received her ordination through COVNet Churches. Her assistant is Kim Tront. They work together to bring Spiritual Truths to the youth in interesting and fun ways.

While the group does have fun, their main focus is not entertaining the youth, but preparing them to be mature, concerned Christians. WHY meets each Sunday morning as part of our Children’s Church and again on Wednesday evenings at 7:00 during our Family Night.

The 13-18 year olds have been involved in the yearly “BREAK OUT” program in the inner city of Buffalo. They bring the Gospel to several communities in the city by using skits and music.

Another annual project to which they have committed themselves is “The 30-Hour Famine” in conjunction with World Vision. During their 30-hour fast, they learn about diversified people-groups who suffer famine. All their games and studies are focused around the plight of those groups. Many of the members of MFH join them in a light meal when they break their fast.

In the summer, our youth attend Kingdom Bound. This 3-day camping experience is held at Darien Lake Amusement Park. Their days and nights are filled with a myriad of nationally known praise and worship bands and speakers.

Evangelism has been a focus of MFH since its inception and the WHY has joined us in that mission project. Each year they help us at our booth at the Erie County Fair.

The group has also gone on two short term mission trips; one to Venezuela and one to Mexico. They shared the Gospel through drama, music, preaching, and community work.

FAMILY NIGHT

MFH is filled with people from all varieties of social, economic, professional, and religious backgrounds. People just like you.

Each Wednesday evening at 7:00 we come together, then separate into each age appropriate group. We come to hear the Word of God and to apply it to our everyday lives. Since we are all different, there is no single approach to the church’s ministry. Rather, the ministry of our church revolves around the diverse needs of our congregation. The style may change, but the substance does not. You can change a practice and not change the principle. You’ll experience something different each week but the Holy Spirit will minister to your needs in a variety of ways.

The Toddlers go to the nursery where they play Bible based games and are read Bible Stories.

FW Friends is the curriculum we use for the 5-9 year olds. The children are separated into two groups where they get a Bible story, and then crafts and games that stress the concept just learned in the story.

WHY’s Teen Group starts at 7:00pm. (Wednesday Meetings Suspended for July & August)

Adults meet in the Fellowship Hall for a diversity of teaching tools from Bible Study to DVD’s on current events that line up with scripture.
